An early player in the smartphone virtual currency marketplace, in the summer of 2011, Gemz was an early model for localized incentives programs. Test marketing in San Francisco and Boston, Gemz enabled  small businesses to offer special deals and loyalty rewards to their customers the same way national brands were already beginning to. Mutant Media worked with the Gemz leadership team in developing their brand identity, and the interface and user experience of their app.
